One day Intermediate Course - Small Rug

This course is recommended for those who are new to tufting but would like to spend more time exploring more complex techniques.

Designed for participants who are ready to move beyond the basics, this class helps you deepen your technical skills and expand your creative expression.

In this Intermediate course, you will:

• Work not only with a cut pile gun, but also explore loop pile techniques.
• Use hand tufting tools and various manual finishing methods.
• Combine multiple textures and pile heights within a single piece.
• Refine line control, shaping, and detailed color transitions.

Rather than creating a simple rug, you will design and produce a custom-shaped, sculptural textile piece, exploring organic forms, layered textures, and more complex compositions.

By the end of the course, you will complete a technically advanced, one-of-a-kind tufted piece — and gain the confidence to take on more ambitious projects in the future.

This four hour workshop includes:

• How to safely and effectively use an electric tufting gun
• Introduction to different tufting tools and their functions
• Basic cut and loop techniques (loop techniques available upon request)

Before the workshop:

• Submit your custom design in advance for approval
• We will review the design to ensure it is suitable for tufting
• Once approved, we will transfer the design onto the tufting cloth for you
• Freehand work is also possible — you may draw your design directly onto the fabric yourself if preferred

Do you feel that 40 × 30 cm sounds small?

When using tools other than a tufting gun, much of the process is done by hand, which requires significantly more time. To create a well-finished, high-quality piece within four hours of focused work, choosing a size that is too large can be technically and physically demanding — and may make the experience less enjoyable.
